Octagon nursery was founded in 1986. This lovely space was created with the intention of providing children with the opportunity to learn and grow through freedom of exploration and discovery establishing the roots of our ethos that remains today.
We are based in a spacious, bright church hall, with our own private garden and nature area, which our children can explore and learn all about the wonderful thing’s nature has to offer.
We are a diverse setting and enjoy celebrating all the wonderful things that make us a community. Every year the children put on a Nativity and Summer concert, international food days and more. We are unique to other nurseries in Camden, we hold our wonderful annual firework display in the church garden where all our past and present families are welcome.
At Octagon Nursery care for up to 25 children between the ages of 2-5 years. We aim to provide a high staff to child ratio and ensure all our staff are fully trained and safety checked regularly.
The numbers and ages of children admitted to the nursery comply with the legal space requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). When considering admissions, we are mindful of staff: child ratios and the facilities available at the nursery.

At Octagon nursery we believe that a happy child is the best foundation for them to blossom to a brighter future. This is why our ethos is to learn through play.
Children learn best through play, which opens a world of imagination, exploration, creativity and growth, but most importantly a happy child.
Our aim is to provide a stimulating and inclusive environment for your children to learn through free play, structured and fun educational activities, following the EYFS.
Children will be given the opportunity to explore the setting and garden in a supervised and safe free flow environment and will also be set fun activities such as group focused activities, music time, yoga, dance and movement, PE and gardening.
We also ensure the essential parts of any nursery such as story time and circle time are a regular part of our daily activities.
We operate a key person system (a designated practitioner that will be allocated to your child), which ensures your child will have the opportunity to create positive relationships and is placed in a group best suited to their age and development. Providing a personal approach, tailoring learning and care to suit each child’s individual needs and preparing them for their path ahead.
We aim to keep key groups to a maximum of 5 to 6 children per group.
We promote healthy eating and well-being at Octagon nursery and provide the children with healthy snacks, milk and water throughout the day.
We encourage the children to prepare their fruit and vegetables themselves and teach them how our food grows, with their very own fruit and vegetable patch in the garden.
Teaching oral health in early years is essential for protecting young teeth and establishing good habits from an early age. At the Octagon we the children the importance of dental health.
The children have their own toothbrush and participate in fun and engaging learning activities, such as playing dentists, using a mirror whilst brushing their teeth and identifying foods that can harm their teeth.
We practise mindfulness with the children through activities such as understanding emotions and yoga, promoting a positive and nurtured wellbeing.
